Additional ActivitiesExcursions provide the children with the opportunity of going on field trips and visiting local places of interest. Popular trips include the fire station, library, milk wood forest, Kirstenbosch and the beach where they explore the wonders of the rock pools. These excursions are wonderful extensions of the weekly themes.Visitors to school: It is always exciting for the children when we have visitors to Valley as this is an effective way of reinforcing the themes in our learning programme. Previous visitors include the reptile man, bird/dog shows, puppeteers, story tellers, magicians, oral hygienists, photographers and DARG (Hout Bay’s pet rescue centre). Co-curricular Programme: Computer Club, Gym-Minnis, Music Play, Speech Therapy, and Language Enrichment. These activities are optional and are offered during the morning to address the needs of children and to enrich the programme. The "Bridging Programme" offers specially selected micro activities to the learners in small groups of 6 to 8. This forms part of the school readiness programme and is an effective way of extending the children and developing skills, knowledge and attitudes. |
